The Expedition

The #Joburg2Kili expedition powered by Tarsus will take place from the 30th July 2016 until the 17th October 2016. The objective of the expedition is to ride on Qhubeka Buffalo bicycles from Johannesburg in South Africa to Moshi in Tanzania all in an effort to raise funds for our chosen charity Qhubeka. Once we arrive in Moshi we will then join a group to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. We plan to summit Mount Kilimanjaro on Warrick and Camilla’s 5th wedding anniversary, 15th October 2016. (Click here to track our progress on our Live Tracking page…).

Joburg2Kili Route Plan
Route plotted on Tracks4Africa on BaseCamp – the image above is taken from Google Earth

Our route takes us from Johannesburg Northwards into Botswana where we will travel up the Eastern side of the country and cross into Zambia at Kasane border. We’ll cycle to Livingstone at Victoria Falls and have a few days of recovery and to replenish our supplies before carrying on towards Lusaka and Eastwards into Malawi. The capital of Malawi, Lilongwe, will be another multi-day stop to replenish before we ride up the Western side of Lake Malawi and cross into Tanzania. Once in Tanzania we’ll head straight up the center of the country up to Arusha and finally Moshi where we’ll exchange our cycling shoes for hiking boots and begin our summit attempt of Mount Kilimanjaro.
